Mission
Tor8Web was created to offer a dependable, curated directory of darknet resources. In contrast to legacy Hidden Wiki variants — which were community-edited, often vandalized, and full of scam links — Tor8Web exercises editorial control over each listing. Links undergo regular validation, malicious sites are flagged, and market status is tracked with timestamps.
Since our founding in January 2024, Tor8Web has grown into the most comprehensive independent darknet directory available. We track 13 active darknet markets, maintain 40+ verified .onion mirrors, and publish 6 in-depth security guides alongside a growing library of research articles and educational resources.
About the Editor
Rodney Allen serves as Editor-in-Chief of Tor8Web. With over seven years of experience in darknet research, OSINT methodology, and privacy-focused journalism, Rodney has documented the evolution of darknet marketplaces from the post-AlphaBay era through the present day.
His research sits at the intersection of privacy technology, marketplace economics, and operational security. Before launching Tor8Web, Rodney contributed to independent publications on Tor network analysis, cryptocurrency privacy mechanisms, and the sociological effects of decentralized marketplaces. He advocates for harm reduction, digital privacy rights, and well-informed public discussion about the dark web.
Rodney's editorial philosophy rests on three principles: accuracy over speed, verification over assumption, and education over sensationalism. Each article published on Tor8Web embodies these values.

What We Are Not
Tor8Web is not a marketplace, a facilitator, or a participant in illegal activity. We are an informational resource. We do not sell products, process transactions, or provide anonymity services. We are not affiliated with any darknet market or vendor.
Verification Methodology
Tor8Web's editorial team follows a rigorous verification process for all .onion links and market data:
- PGP canary verification: Every market link is checked against PGP-signed canary statements from market administrators
- Cross-referencing: Links are validated against at least two independent community sources (Dread, Tenebris, Dark.fail)
- Uptime testing: .onion addresses are tested for accessibility through multiple Tor exit relays
- Phishing detection: Known phishing clones are identified and blacklisted using SSL/TLS fingerprinting and content analysis
- Weekly cadence: Full link validation is performed weekly. The
lastmodtimestamp on each page reflects the most recent verification pass
